Our dehumanization continues to grind away at our roots as humans. Just as it is easier to shop at a grocery store than to hunt or grow our own food, it will soon be more comforting for us (as we stumble off to die) to have a robot to meet our needs - instead of a resentful and underpaid high school dropout.
In 2023, given a choice between Assisted Living and a pistol in my mouth, I'd opt for the pistol. On the other hand, if I make it to be 80 years old, robotics and computers might be running well enough that I could get a silicone-based Cribbage, Chess, or Euchre opponent. It would make the long slog to the crematorium more fun.

I think you might be surprised how fast things are progressing.
